Suburban shocker: Complaints of ‘high’ electricity bills pour in
Mumbai: A section of electricity consumers in the suburbs have complained of “over-billing” by Adani Electricity and some have tweeted to the firm to get their meters re-checked A source in Adani Electricity said every complaint was being treated seriously. “We have found no problem in the billing process as it has been done as per directives of the state regulatory commission,” the source said. “There has been a tariff revision since September. Also, consumption increases during October and citizens may be falling into a higher slab. This can result in bills being higher than that in the previous month,” the source added. A consumer who lives in Jogeshwari said that the monthly electricity bill amount was 90% higher. “I get a monthly bill of around Rs 1,700 and in some months, the bill increases up to Rs 2,500. But the recent bill was Rs 3,230,” said this consumer. On Wednesday, former member of Parliament Milind Deora tweeted: “Complaints pouring in on inflated bills received by consumers as compared to previous bills of June-July...”
